Let’s talk about insecurities

“You are an unbreakable diamond”

We all like to compare ourselves with other people. Whether those are Instagram models, teenage billionaires, or maybe your friends and family It’s easy to criticize yourself, thinking that they have it better than you. It is so ingrained in our minds, especially with the rise of social media.

I have always struggled with insecurities. I’m not the most confident person, I like to pretend that I am one, but in reality, that’s not the case (most of the time). The things I’m insecure about include, my appearance, my length, my voice, even my writing. (You have no idea how many times I’ve edited this post). It’s easy to compare yourself to others. Whenever I see someone who has it better than me, I get upset. I would think to myself: “Why am I not like that?”

Why are people like that? Why do we see everything as some sort of competition? With the rise of social media, we have become more and more competitive. If your life isn’t “Insta-perfect”, you’ll immediately lose the competition. Social media has really changed our mindset of how we see ourselves. We shouldn’t think of ourselves as something that is not enough for the rest of the world. We should think of ourselves as good enough for ourselves. As my favorite Broadway actress, Sierra Boggess likes to say:

“You are enough. You are so enough. It’s unbelievable how enough you are!”

– Sierra Boggess

Please remember that you shouldn’t be hard on yourself. Take yourself first, before you think about the opinions of others. You are an unbreakable diamond.

Yours truly,
